Joann D. Struthers

Joann Deryce Struthers (nee Reed), 86 of Elk Grove Village since 1972, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026. Joann was born to Joe and Deryce (nee Lawler) Reed, at the Featherstone maternity Home in Douglas, Wyoming on October 24, 1939. She grew up in Montana and Watford City. North Dakota. She attended the local grade school and later graduated from Dakota Lutheran Academy in Minot, North Dakota in 1958. She continued her education at an airline school in Minneapolis.

On April 4, 1970, she was united in marriage to Forrest Struthers in Belle Fourche, South Dakota where her parents had moved. She and Forrest enjoyed nearly 56 years of marriage. They traveled extensively, as Forrest worked for United Airlines for many years. Unfortunately, Joann was diagnosed with Parkinson Disease 23 years ago and became immobile in the last 12. Joann loved to shop, and did so extensively, until she was no longer able to get around.

Joann is survived by her husband Forrest, brother Steve and nephews Shawn, Todd and Joe of Gillette, Wyoming. She is also survived by many of Forrest’s siblings and their offspring. She was preceded in death by her parents joe and Deryce and in-laws Ted and Vivian Struthers.

Cremation is private at the Countryside Crematory with inurnment at Belgrade Methodist Cemetery in Belgrade, Minnesota at a later date.
