Joan Lowery (nee Winterlin), almost 90. Witty, generous, and strong. Not a perfect person but we think she would agree that perfect is boring. And she was not boring by any means but funny and smart with endless fascinating stories about her life. Born during the Depression, grew up in Chicago during the War, married in the fifties and moved to Hoffman Estates as one of the original homeowners. She worked at Unocal Corporation for 19 years with coworkers she remembered fondly. Much loved for her wonderful traits (which her daughters hope they have inherited) as well as her not so wonderful traits (which her daughters know they have inherited). Preceded in death by her adored family - husband John Lowery, with whom she shared lively conversations at the end of each day, mother Josephine, father William, sister Dorothy (Carl) DelVitto and brother Bill Winterlin. Admired, loved, and respected by daughters Karen Lowery and Jenny (Jim) Sherman, niece Mary Jo (Scott) Prueter, and many other nieces, nephews, and friends she spoke of often with lovely memories and joyful anecdotes. Burial arrangements private. Please send prayers for safe travel to all those moving on.
