Jim Nawrocki

January 21, 1950 — January 5, 2023

Jim "Rocki" Nawrocki, 72, of Schaumburg, IL, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 5th, 2023. He was the son of the late Casimer and Jean Nawrocki. Beloved husband of Peggy, nee Halpin. Devoted father of Julie (Steven) McNelley. Proud grandfather of Colin, Brendan and Logan McNelley. Dear brother-in-law of Kathleen Halpin, Michael (Cathy) Nelms, the late Patrick (Kimmie) Nelms, Judith (Michael) Cibelli, Keith (Kathy) Nelms, Kevin Nelms, Mary Beth Nelms, Mary Jo (Jeff) Keller, the late Stephen (Carrie) Nelms and Colleen Nelms. He was also the beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Jim was born in Chicago and attended Steinmetz High School. Following his graduation in 1968, Jim enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he honorably served two tours of duty (1968-1973), mostly during the Vietnam War. Jim then joined the United States Postal Service where he was employed for 34 years until his retirement in 2009. He then became an Auxiliary Police Officer for the City of Rosemont. Of the titles Jim held, he was most proud to be Grandpa. There was nothing that made him prouder than following his grandchildren’s accomplishments and attending their activities.
Jim will be laid to rest at 11:00 A.M. on January 20, 2023, at the Fort Sheridan National Cemetery, on Vattman Rd. in Lake Forest, Illinois. Luncheon to immediately follow. Donations made to The Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org or P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 would be appreciated.
