Jerry Hanlon
June 3, 1950 — July 2, 2025
Jerry Hanlon, of Bartlett, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to the family, friends and community he cherished.
Beloved husband of Pamela (née Johnston) for over 50 wonderful years; devoted and loving father of Michael Robert (Erin) and David James (Sarah); proud and adoring "Papa" of Conor, Amelia, Molly, and Jack. Jerry was the cherished brother of Linda (Larry) Kraus and was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Elsie Hanlon. He was also a treasured uncle, loyal friend and neighbor who could always be counted on to provide a smile, a helping hand, or a great story.
Jerry was born and raised in Chicago where he graduated from Taft High School before earning his degree from Northern Illinois University. He married Pam in 1972, and in 1977 they moved to Bartlett where they built a home filled with love, warmth, and laughter while raising their two sons.
Jerry spent over 30 years working for the IRS, where he formed lasting friendships and proudly bowled in the IRS bowling league for more than four decades. A man of deep faith and service, he was a longtime active member of Living Lord Lutheran Church in Bartlett, generously giving his time and talents.
An avid gardener, Jerry found joy in nurturing not just plants but relationships. He took great pride in his home and yard, often sharing the fruits (and flowers) of his labor with neighbors and friends.
Of all his roles, the one he cherished most was being “Papa.” Jerry was his grandchildren’s biggest fan, never missing a baseball game, dance recital, soccer match, concert, or school event. He celebrated their every achievement and was always there with a camera in hand, a warm hug, and a heart full of pride.
Jerry's life was a beautiful example of quiet strength, selfless love, and daily joy. He lived fully and loved deeply, and his presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
