Jerry Dean Floyd, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and the serene beauty of Tucson, Arizona. His presence brought warmth and kindness to all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.
Jerry was born on May 20, 1938, in Hamilton County, Ohio to Chester and Ada May Floyd. He was the seventh of eight children in a close-knit family. He was preceded in death by his siblings George, Betty, Larry, and Margie, and is survived by his sisters, Linda and Mary.
Jerry shared 65 devoted years of marriage with his beloved wife, Emolene (née Lewallen), who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his son, Aaron. Jerry led by example in how to love God and his family well. He leaves behind his cherished daughter, Alissa; his daughter-in-law, Kimberly; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren: Katelyn (Tyler) Sisti, Ashlyn (Austin) White, Zachary, Ryan, Cameron, Carson, Teagan, Tessa, Lachlan, Callan, and Micah, with another great-grandchild expected in early summer. Jerry was deeply involved in his grandchildren’s lives and treasured every moment with them.
Jerry was a man of deep compassion and generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. He found great joy in tending his beautiful gardens, preparing meals in his kitchen, traveling to new places, and playing the organ. His faith was central to his life, and he faithfully served his church for many years as an organist. One of his most treasured ministries was leading groups to serve at Pacific Garden Mission, where he made a lasting impact on many lives.
His daughter fondly remembers his words: “If anything happens to me, please know I had an amazing life.” These words reflect the gratitude and contentment he carried throughout his life.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 27th at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at Bethel Baptist Church, 200 N. Roselle Road, Schaumburg, Illinois. A graveside service will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park in Elgin, Illinois.
Jerry’s life was a testament to faith, love, and service. As it is written in Matthew 25:21 (NIV):
“Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!”
