Jerome "Jerry" Wiermanski, age 77, of Wayne, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
A proud graduate of St. Procopius College (Benedictine University), Jerry was the starting center on the college’s football team and remained a passionate sports enthusiast throughout his life. He coached numerous youth teams over the years, sharing his love of the game and mentoring young athletes. A devoted golfer and fan of the Chicago White Sox, the Chicago Bears, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Jerry brought the same steadfast enthusiasm to every endeavor, including receiving his M.B.A. from Loyola University.
Following his distinguished career in the plastics industry, where he holds two patents, Jerry was the dedicated business manager of Resurrection Catholic Church in Wayne, IL, for over twenty years, which included overseeing the construction of the new church.
Outside of work, he was known for his dry humor and he found quiet fulfillment in oil and watercolor painting, revealing his artistic talents. He also treasured traveling, from international business trips to vacations, especially to Hawaii, where he created lasting memories with his family.
Jerry was the devoted husband of 55 years to Marie (née Brausch); loving father of Joseph (Kelly) and John (Angela) Wiermanski; and a proud grandfather to Jacob, Knox, Jude, and the late Moses. He was the dear brother of Chester (Margaret) Wiermanski, Mary Ann Wiermanski, and Nancy Ann (Mark) Roden; the beloved brother-in-law to the Brausch siblings; and a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Margaret (née Schellenberg) Wiermanski, and parents-in-law, Bob and Tina (née Dolce) Brausch.
