In Memory of Jeffrey Alan Jacobson
January 22, 1961 - August 6, 2023
With hearts full of memories, we gather to remember the life of Jeffrey Jacobson, who completed his journey at the age of 62. Jeff embraced life in his own unique way, leaving behind a legacy of diverse experiences and connections. Jeff was a hardworking father and husband, devoted friend, and a source of light for many in his life.
Born on January 22, 1961 Jeff brought mentorship and humor to all of his relationships. He was a man of many talents and passions, including coaching Slugger’s softball, watching the Green Bay Packers, his engineering work, and his Mustangs.
As a leader within the Sluggers’ organization, he was elected head commissioner and brought a great deal of innovation and direction to the program. Jeff was instrumental in the success of tournaments and of the quality of instruction the program offers. He had a great impact upon all the athletes he coached, adding humor and motivation to practices and games. Jeff was loved and respected by his peers and continues to impact the lives of his former players and friends.
Jeff displayed pride and passion in his 29 years of work as an electrical engineer for the Musco Sports Lighting team. His coworkers would say he was their go-to guy and was a fundamental component of their research and development team. He will be remembered by them as a good friend who brought laughter and light to the workplace.
Jeff was preceded in death by his beloved and cherished mother Alice Jacobson and father John Jacobson. Jeff leaves behind his wife Melody with whom he shared 39 years of marriage, and together, they shared moments of joy, growth, and memorable experiences. As a father, Jeff had the privilege of helping raise two strong and ambitious daughters, Jennifer (Justin) Sword and Kimberly (Nathan) Garrison. In his later years, Jeff embraced the role of grandfather, delighting in the presence of three grandchildren, Lillian, Lucy, and Grace. His laughter and generosity enriched their lives, and they will cherish the memories they created together.
He is also survived by his brothers John Jacobson and Dan (Pam) Jacobson and their children, all whom he loved greatly.
Sadly, Jeff battled internal struggles that led to his passing on August 6th, 2023. While his journey took an unexpected turn, we choose to remember the vibrant man he was throughout his life.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 1-4 pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 333 S. Roselle Rd. Roselle, IL 60172. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Schaumburg Athletic Association in his honor.
Rest in peace, Jeff. You are loved by many and you will be deeply missed.
