Jean Marie McCartney was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. After a sudden decline in health, she passed away on February 25, 2024, at the age of 81.
Jean was born in 1942 to Raymond and Marie in DeMotte, Indiana. After graduating from DeMotte High School, she packed her bags and headed to Chicago. There, she met her future husband. Dennis and Jean married and welcomed a daughter, Patricia, two years later.
After retiring, she enjoyed spending her time with her two adored grandchildren, reading mystery and thriller novels, playing games, doing puzzles, watching TV dramas and Hallmark movies, and, most of all, enjoying the company and support of her very large network of friends and family.
She had such a big, loving heart and will be missed by so many.
Jean is predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Marie, and siblings Patricia and Phyliss.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 47 years, Dennis; daughter Patricia (Ryan); grandchildren Briella and Torin; siblings Doris, Sandra, and Sally (Ivan); and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in April, please contact the family for details. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Jean’s deep love for animals, the family has requested donations be made to the ASPCA ( secure.aspca.org ) or World Wildlife Fund ( worldwildlife.org ).
