Jean Josephine Jagodzinski, of Midland, MI, formerly of Schaumburg/Streamwood, IL, age 89, passed away peacefully with family at her side on July 14, 2014. Jean was born on February 15, 1925, in Chicago, to parents John and Chessie Pokoj. Jean was the beloved wife of the late Frank “Glory,” whom she married on January 5, 1947. She was the loving mother of Jim (Tonja), Bob (the late Gina), Doris (Marty) Smith, and the late Gloria (the late Vadney) and the late Joyce; cherished grandmother of Jennifer (Bob) Daub, Meredith (John) Armstrong, Jamie (Greg) Swears, Erin (fiancé Joel Parsons) Jagodzinski, Jacque and Jenny Jagodzinski, and Daniel, Lindsay, and Lauren Smith; loving great-grandmother of seven: Jenna, Zachary, Morgan, Matthew, Mackenzie, Abigail, and Garrett; dear sister of the late Edwin (the late Josie) Pokoj, Phyllis (the late Ray) Pynsky, and Rita (Jack) Powell; many loving nieces and nephews.
Jean was known for her unselfish love and service. She was an amazing cook and happiest when her home was filled with her family and friends. She taught by example and shared her love, loyalty, fairness, and the meaning of good parenting. Jean was loved by all for her beautiful smile and warm hugs. She was thankful for special friends Joe and Linda Prieto, as well as many friends and caregivers at Riverside Place, Tendercare Midland, and Heartland Hospice for their care and support.
Visitation is Saturday, July 19, 2014, from 8:00am until time of prayers (9:30am) at Countryside Funeral Home, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd Streamwood, IL.
