Janice Carol Peterson

Janice Carol Peterson, age 91 of Hanover Park, IL passed away on May 13, 2026. She loved music and was a big fan of Elvis. Janice and the love of her life, Ray, danced beautifully together. Their children enjoyed watching them especially when they danced the polka! She liked to travel and Hawaii was a favorite which she visited many times. Janice was born and raised in the "Copper Country" in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and was very proud of her Finnish heritage and enjoyed many Finn Fest celebrations including a cruise to Alaska. She loved cats, and reading and crossword puzzles were a favorite pastime.

She is survived by her children Michael (Colleen) Peterson; Janine Nottke; Becky (Jack) Kazubski; Karen Clapp; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brothers Jack Siirila and Jamie Siirila; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Janice was preceded in death by Raymond Peterson, her husband of 69 years; parents Ero and Elna Siirila; sister Jeanne Rabine; and son-in-law Randall Nottke.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 30th at 1:00 pm at Grace Lutheran Church located at 780 S Bartlett Rd, Streamwood, IL 60107. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association: https://www.alz.org/illinois
