Janet Bellis

Janet Marie (Schenekl) Bellis, age 79 of Huntley, IL passed away Friday, February 7, 2025 at her home. She was born July 3, 1945 in Chicago, IL to the late Irene and George Schenekl.

Janet found joy in spending time with and celebrating holidays and birthdays with her small family. Upon retirement, Janet moved into the Del Webb community in Huntley. There she worked at the Fitness Center and could often be found swimming. She enjoyed going out to eat and to the movies with friends and family, meeting neighborhood pets, and sitting in her cul-de-sac chatting with her neighbors and friends.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and George; step-father, Gus Homann.

She is survived by her daughters Jodi (Matt) Macaluso and Darcie (Jeff) Murray; grandchildren, Joseph Macaluso, Hannah Murray, and William Murray; sister, Marilyn King; brother, George Schenekl; nephews, Aaron and Jason King.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Janet’s passing inspired us to call attention to needed support to prevent others from suffering as she did. Nami is an organization that supports integrated care for patients. NAMI’s vision includes building a community that eliminates the stigma of depression and anxiety, creates awareness to identify illness earlier, and empowers all people impacted by mental conditions to live life with purpose, meaning, and hope.
