Jane was born on January 20, 1924 on the family farm in Bartlett to the late Lillie and August Humbracht. She died at her home in Bartlett after a lengthy illness. After completing the first two years of high school in Bartlett Jane finished high school in Elgin and graduated in 1942. Jane was the beloved wife of the late Basil “Doc” Ping, they married in 1943. Jane and Doc ran the Eck Tavern in Bartlett during the late 1950’s & 1960’s. It became well known throughout the area for their Friday night fish fry’s. After leaving the business Jane and Doc worked for u-46 School District. Jane was one of the lunch ladies working mostly at Eastview Middle School and Streamwood High School. After retiring they enjoyed their family, neighbors, friends and traveling. Even though Jane enjoyed seeing new places when she returned to Bartlett she always said “There’s no place like home”. Being chosen Grand Marshall for the 4th of July Parade was one of her proudest moments.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years in 2003, her parents, and four brothers, Louis, Lawrence, Lester and Robert in infancy. She is survived by two daughters Jean Ann Ping (Wanza Rowe) of Pingree Grove and Sandra Kay (Charles) Smith of Hampshire; two grandchildren Cheryl J. (Michael) Warmus of Hampshire and Scott C. (Katie) Smith of Aurora; seven great grandchildren, Kylie, Delaney and Madyson Warmus and Jake, Cara, Jena and Max Smith. Jane was a lifelong member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, her family would like to thank Pastor Susan Tyrrel and the “Guild Gals” especially Norman Jensen and Sandra Parsons for their generosity and kindness during her illness. We would also like to thank hospice nurse Carolynne Cullerton and Jane’s two caregiver’s Anya and Tugi for their outstanding care. Jane was always interested in anything concerning Bartlett, local politics, restaurants, schools or sports. She always asked her visitors “what’s new”.
