Deeply devoted husband of the late Jacqueline, nee Shramek; beloved father of Sean and Colleen; loving son of the late Frederick W. and Mary I., nee Mitchell; caring brother of the late Frederick R. (Geraldine), Mary I. (Arthur) Beattie, Virginia E. (Harry) Adams, Gerard F. (Joan) and Ralph S. He is survived by siblings Rita J. (Edward) Kociszewski, Paul E. (Florence), Gerald A. (Willie) Wilmot, Adrian J. (Marlene) and Kevin C. (Carol).
James enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1948, serving 4 years on Okinawa during wartime, receiving the Good Conduct Medal in less than 3 years. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant by Colonel Arthur McCartan and was a Chief Weather Observer. After his service, James devoted 40 years to United Airlines (via Capital) as a master and lead aircraft mechanic at ORD. James loved to fly, owning and flying small aircraft after his military service. Upon retirement, Jim returned to flight through membership in the Vagabond Flying Association. Memorial mass Monday April 11th 12/noon at St. Walter Catholic Church 130 Pine St. Roselle, Il. A private burial service will be held at Mt. Emblem Cemetery at a later date.
