James Niccum

June 6, 1949 — September 17, 2024

James R. Niccum, 75, of Bartlett, IL passed away on September 17 ^th , 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born on June 6 ^th , 1949 in Chicago, IL to his parents Forest and Mathilda Niccum. Jim was the beloved husband for 52 years of Chris Niccum; loving dad of J.J. (Lisa) Niccum, Jill (Brian) Cascio, Todd (Tiffany) Niccum and Eric (Kendall) Niccum; cherished Pops of Aidan, Hunter, Lily, Jimmy, Abbey, Nolan, Makenna, Olivia and Logan; loving brother of Chuck (Marty) Niccum, Ed (Rose) Niccum and Mary Jo (Dan) Starr; dear son-in-law, brother-in-law, godfather, uncle and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents Forest and Mathilda and his brother Robert.

After a successful career, Jim retired at 57 and discovered a passion for cooking and shared his love of food with family and friends. Jim was known for his quick wit and invaluable nuggets of wisdom. His generosity touched many lives, and he was deeply involved with Resurrection Catholic Church throughout his life. Above all, he cherished his amazing family, who will forever remember his love and laughter. Jim's spirit and kindness will be greatly missed.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 29 ^th , 2024 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Countryside Funeral Home & Crematory, 950 S. Bartlett Rd. Bartlett, IL 60103. A morning visitation will be held on Monday, September 30 ^th , 2024 at Resurrection Catholic Church, 30W350 Army Trail Rd. Wayne, IL 60184, from 10:00 am until time of Mass 11:00 am. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago Foundation, Department 4586, Carol Stream, IL 60122-4586.
