James Mattson

November 26, 1938 — July 12, 2024

James F. Mattson of Streamwood, IL passed away on July 12, 2024. Jim was born on November 26, 1938, to his parents Walter and May Mattson. He is the beloved husband of Marion for almost 40 years; loving father of Laura Wywial and Jim (Tonya) Mattson; cherished grandfather of Terrel Cohen, Megan Wywial, Helena Mattson, Christopher Mattson and Gabrielle Mattson; dear brother of Bob (Diane) Mattson, cherished brother in law of Dawn (John) Herbst, dear friend to Mickey Randle, and uncle and friend to many. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Walter and May and his brother John (June) Mattson.

Jim was a true patriot, having proudly served his country in the Army. Jim enjoyed life, always displaying his quick wit and warm smile. His passion was to help and serve others, rather than to be served.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Countryside Funeral Home, 1640 South Greenmeadows Blvd., Streamwood, IL 60107. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024 10:00 am at the Funeral Home. A private cremation will take place after.
