Memorial Visitation for James W. Lamberty of Wheeling, originally from Des Plaines will be held Friday, May 21, 2021 4:00 - 8:00p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 333 S. Roselle Rd. (1/2 mile south of Irving Park Rd.) Roselle. Prayers and Eulogies 7:00p.m.
Jim grew up in Des Plaines and excelled at sports at an early age. He was an exceptional speed skater, baseball and football player. After high school he owned and operated a semi truck and drove cross country until he met Mary and her daughter Jenny, whom he raised as his own.
Jim and Mary raised their family in Hoffman Estates. He loved to coach his kids, who enjoyed sports as much as he did. Jim was a life long Cubs and Bears fan, but later had to make room for his favorite QB of all time, Tom Brady - which became a source of much debate in our family.
Jim loved to have a good time and was often the life of the party. Some words his kids use to describe him...tough, fair, stubborn, hard working, a great sense of humor, passionate, generous, loving-ish (but there's a bit of debate on that one), brutally honest, down to earth, witty and an all around great guy.
Some of his favorite quotes: "Stop yourself", "Absolutely", "Check this out" and "Forward, never straight".
Gone way too soon. We are heartbroken and will miss him dearly, but find comfort in knowing he is reunited with his mom and dad and hopefully playing or coaching on Heaven's Field of Dreams. He's our very own Angel in the outfield.
And finally, as a friend recently said "Number 7 on the field, and Number 1 in the hearts of many".
You are in our hearts forever....until we meet again.
