After a two year journey with cancer, it is with a mixture of great sadness and much joy that we
share with you the passing of our father, James Michael Glazik. Sadness for a life that will be
missed by many, joy for the eternal life he has now begun.
Born and raised in Chicago, alongside one sister and three brothers, he enjoyed playing basketball,
swimming and working with his hands. Many of his favorite childhood memories included
putting things together with scraps of materials he collected throughout the neighborhood in
his little red wagon. He shared this passion for building and fixing things with all three of his
cherished grandsons, Bennett, Preston and Aiden, generously supplying them with a bucket of
tools as soon as they could walk and talk, accompanied by plenty of hands on experiences.
After working his way through Holy Trinity High School (with a job at 12th street beach), he joined
the plumbers union. Upon completing six years in Plumber’s Local Union 130, we moved to Bartlett
where he proudly built our family home and started his own business, James Glazik Plumbing. His
kindness and gratitude cultivated many long lasting wonderful relationships over the years.
Although spending time with family and friends, tinkering around with home projects, enjoying
the latest movies, and going out to eat were all among his favorite things to do, his grandchildren
brought him his greatest happiness. Always excited about attending their games or
sharing in their latest adventures he beamed with pride and love anytime he talked about them.
His good-natured and jovial attitude made for many unforgettable memories.
We’d like to thank our mother, Valerie Glazik, for taking such good care of him throughout this
journey thus fulfilling his wish to remain at home
and be surrounded by his beloved family until his
passing. We’d also like to thank his siblings and
their spouses, who were there with us every step
of the way, loving and supporting us in so many
ways. What a blessing to call them family.
Anyone who knew him well knows his favorite
day of the week was Monday. The start of the
work week allowed him the opportunity to do
the work he loved and spend time with the customers
and friends he so enjoyed. We would like
to take this opportunity to invite those within the
community whose lives he touched to join us in
celebrating his life on Sunday, February 23rd at
Bannerman’s Sports Grill, 858 South Rt. 59,
Bartlett, from 12:00 - 3:00 with memories being
shared at 1:00. Lisa Glazik-Killough and
Stacie Glazik-Marhofke.
Since his grandsons were his pride and joy, if you would
like , you may make a donation to
www.givekidstheworld.org in his memory.
