James Denier

James Denier was born February 15, 1945 to Joseph and Teresa Denier, the youngest of four children. He passed peacefully on August 10, 2022.
Raised in Northlake, Illinois he graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Elmhurst, Illinois in 1963. Drafted into military service in 1966, Jim served in the Army infantry in Vietnam for two years. Honorably discharged in 1968, he received numerous medals including the Purple Heart.
After his military service, Jim worked in a steel foundry in DeKalb, Illinois to pay for his tuition at Northern Illinois University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Library Science, eventually completing his master’s degree.
It was in DeKalb that he met the love of his life Linda Ann Dubowski, and after a six-month whirlwind courtship they married on August 28, 1971.
They lived in Chicago for several years before purchasing their home in Roselle, Illinois where they have lived for 41 years.
Jim went on to earn more degrees, in computer sciences as well as linguistics. He and Linda owned and operated a small computer consulting company before Jim moved on to teaching computer science classes at College of DuPage.
Jim and Linda shared a passion for the culinary arts and travel and were fortunate enough to have traveled to multiple countries, having visited their favorite city, Paris, France several times. Avid readers, they amassed a large personal library of hundreds of books, on a huge variety of subjects.
Jim was preceded in death by his father Joseph, his brother Joseph, his mother Teresa, and nephews Peter and Matthew Snopko.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife Linda; loving sister Jeanette (Peter) Snopko; dear Nieces-Teresa (Paul) Eisenbraun, Valerie Snopko, Joanne Denier and the late Michelle Denier; Nephews- Luke (Susan) Snopko, Daniel Snopko and Jacob (Nicole) Snopko, the late Peter (Sue) Snopko and the late Matthew (Bernadette) Snopko; fond Great-nieces and nephews – Kirsten, Kellan and Brendan (Natalie) Eisenbraun; Genevive, Mac and Mikaela Snopko, Paige (Mark) Hernandez and Zoe Snopko, Rachael (Cole) Daum, Wyatt, Porter Snopko and Great-great nephews – Leo and Clayton
Burial will be private – in lieu of flowers, donations are greatly appreciated to Journey Care Hospice, 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington, Illinois 60010 or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
