James Campbell

November 14, 1941 — January 26, 2024

James Angus Campbell, age 82, of Bartlett, IL passed away peacefully on January 26, 2024. Jim was born on November 14, 1941, to Raymond and Elfrieda (nee: Weise) in Wausau, WI. Upon graduation from Wausau East High School, he attended The University of Wisconsin, Madison where he earned degrees in Biochemistry (BS) & Physiological Chemistry (MA), and conducted research in the Primate Lab. Jim and Vodus moved to the Chicago suburbs in 1978, where they resided until they moved to The Oaks of Bartlett in November of 2022.

Jim’s professional life was marked by dedication and innovation. He began as a scientist and salesman at PerkinElmer before transitioning to become a salesman, manager, and vice president at Ickes-Braun Glasshouses, Inc. Jim’s final role was as founder, owner, and operator of Campbell Glasshouses Inc. Jim's commitment to excellence and integrity in his work left a lasting impact on those he encountered.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Jim devoted himself to a life of service. He joyfully and faithfully served in various capacities within ministries at Forest River Bible Chapel, Living Waters Bible Camp, The Winter Youth Retreat, and The Adventure Learning Centre, touching countless lives with his tireless effort and dedication.

Jim was the beloved husband of Vodus Mae (nee: Prock) and the loving father of Stacie (Lee) Burtelson, Jason (Kristin) Campbell, Addie (Joe) Bartoszek, and Angie (Greg Hill) Campbell. He was a loving grandfather to Jacob, Callum, Joshua, Jackson, Jordan, Jonah, Emma, Kora, Charlotte, and the late Jasper.  Jim was the dear brother of Priscilla (Ken) Barker, Jon (the late Jackie) Campbell, Lois (Bill) Kujawa, the late Kenneth (Phyllis) Campbell and the late David (Ruth Redekup) Campbell.

Jim's love for God was evident in every aspect of his life. He cherished his faith, his family, and every individual he encountered. Known for his determination, leadership, and commitment to others, Jim was a mentor and friend to many. His generous nature, keen sense of humor, and love for cooking and fellowship endeared him to all who knew him.

Jim's legacy of love and service will continue to inspire those who were privileged to know him. His memory will be cherished by his family, friends, and all who were touched by his kindness.

A memorial visitation will be held at The Sacred Heart Chapel at The Oaks at Bartlett, 801 Carillon Drive, Bartlett, Illinois 60103, on February 10th, 2024.
