James A. Altman age 83, of Chicago Illinois, passed away on June 3, 2026. He was born on June 23, 1941 in Evanston, IL to Anthony and Dorothy (nee Stefenhagen) Altman.

After proudly serving in the United States Army, Jim went on to have a fulfilling career as a police officer for the city of Elmhurst. Years later, Jim began his work in the automotive industry. Outside of work, he was a devoted Chicago Bears fan, loved to travel, and had a passion for fine dining. He will be remembered above all by his love for his children and grandchildren.

Jim is survived by his wife Lucy (nee Recht), brother Tom (Patty), his loving children Lynn (Jerry,) Paula (Mitch), Jimmy (Nikki), Joe (Jacqueline), his eight grandchildren Zachary, Stephanie (Jerred), Roxanne, Emerson, Brady, Aaron, Austin, Tyler, Anna, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister Carol.

Memorial visitation Monday, July 6, 2026 from 10:00am until time of memorial service 12:00pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 333 S. Roselle Rd., Roselle, Family and friends will meet for inurnment at 2:00pm at Memorial Park Cemetery 9900 Gross Point Rd., Skokie, IL. Info (630)529-5751
