Jacob J. Schiller, age 90, of Streamwood, died Tuesday, February 25, 2025. He passed away at home, peacefully in his sleep.
He was Born February 12, 1935 in Chicago. Jacob was an engineer for most of his career, not retiring till age 70. He served in the United States Airforce where he gained his love of flying, and working with aircraft. Not only an airplane enthusiast, but also a small plane pilot and airplane mechanic. Jacob was a continuous learner who taught himself a wide range of things, including different languages, and how to play different types of guitars. Being a gifted person, he enjoyed working with wood, handcrafting a showpiece canoe, and several other unique woodworking projects. He was an avid reader – owning and reading many hundreds of books on just about every subject and content you can imagine. Although he grew up on the South side, he was a true Cubs fan. He was always there to count on to lend a helping hand for whatever his family needed. He will be greatly missed by his entire family and many friends. Beloved dad of Cathy (Charles) Pope, Steven Schiller, Greg Schiller, Laura (Terry) Gehling and Lauren Schiller-Morten; loving grandpa of Nicole, Samantha, Michael, Kyle, Nicholas and Autumn; cherished great grandpa of Natalie, Leah, Bradley, Caleb and Bonnie; dear son of the late Joseph and Bernadetta Schiller; kind brother of Virginia, Patricia, Rosemary and Lenny and fond uncle to many. Visitation 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 1640 S Greenmeadows Blvd, Streamwood. Funeral Monday 10:30 am at the funeral home. Interment at Lakewood Memorial Park. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Veterans Administration Home Team for their care, and support. And to dedicate an immense thanks to his caregiver and dear friend Bozena, and ALL who contributed to the comfort and care of his last days.
