Jacob A. Mueller, (Jake, Jack or Papa) a cherished husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 29th, 2026. He was 87 years old.

Jake's life was richly filled with his passions, interests, but above all, family. An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in fishing, hunting, and simply being in nature's embrace. He loved to cook, bringing his family together over special meals and sitting around the kitchen table visiting. Everyone enjoyed his quick-wit and clever observations on everyday life – he could always make us laugh. Known for his dynamic and outgoing personality, he and Judy enjoyed traveling, hosting parties, and going out with “the group.” Above all, he treasured the time spent with his grandchildren, creating lasting memories and bonds. Jake loved attending the grandkids performances and sporting events and just hanging out at home, swimming, or playing bingo, board games and cards.

Jacob proudly served his country through decades of dedicated military service. He enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1958, where he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant and served as an infantry Platoon Leader and Tank Commander. After many years of honorable service, he continued his military career in the Air National Guard, ultimately retiring in 1998 with the rank of Master Sergeant. His long and distinguished service reflected his deep sense of duty and patriotism and led to brotherly bonds with those he served with.

Jake is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Judy E. Sampey-Mueller, and his children Gregory A. (Sheryl) Mueller, Jeffrey W. (Jennifer Griffone) Mueller, Lynette (Carla Dasher) Sampey, Cheryl (Jim) Peterson, Michael (Monique) Sampey, and Frank (Leah) Sampey. He was a proud grandfather to Gretchen (Nick) Hymer, Austin (Jenna) Mueller, Allison Mueller, Brittany Picardi, Brooke Picardi, Jack Mueller, Michael Picardi, Michael Sampey, Keegan Sampey, Luke Peterson, Kaelan Sampey, Olivia Sampey, and Nolan Sampey, and a cherished great-grandfather to Korbin and Vadelle Hymer. Jacob is also survived by his siblings Patricia Kasper and Margaret Worden.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy M., his grandson Finn Sampey, his parents, Jacob George and Mother, Clara (Pat) Mueller (née White), and his brother and sister-in-law, George and Anne Mueller, as well as brothers-in-law Vincent Kasper and Dale Worden.
