Jacob J. Hammer, 26, died unexpectedly June 5, 2020, in his home beside his family. He was born October 19, 1993 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, the son of Malinda S. Hammer. Jacob graduated from South Elgin High School, Class of 2015. Following graduation, he continued his education through the MLP Transition Program at South Elgin High School In addition, Jacob was able to attend the Muscular Dystrophy Summer Camps for 4 years which were filled with countless memories.
Many described Jacob as a man of few words, however his impressions and smile would illuminate an entire room. Jacob was known as a comedian to all who knew him. He overflowed with love and was always thoughtful in every deed. He was never lacking in patience and was always there to listen. His strength and courage inspired many.
Surviving in addition to his mother, Malinda Hammer, are his sisters, Mariah Hammer, Amanda Hammer and Layla Hammer.
A visitation will be held Monday, June 8, 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 95 S. Gilbert Street (at State Street) South Elgin. Funeral will be private Tuesday. Burial River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia. In lieu of flowers any gesture or donation to help the family with on going medical expenses in remembrance of Jacob would be appreciated. **Due to current COVID 19 restrictions, a maximum of 10 people will be allowed in the funeral home. In an effort to allow for others to pay their respects visitation will take place outside, with viewing at the front window of the funeral home. To allow for social distancing only a few visitors at a time should be at the window, others should remain in their cars while waiting.**
