Iva Walters

Iva M Walters, age 96, a 64-year resident of Roselle, died Thursday, December 28th in her Roselle home with her loved ones nearby after a 10-year struggle with dementia. Longtime matriarch of a family on both sides of the ocean in the US and Great Britain, she was a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother (Nan), great grand-mother (Nan-Nan), aunt, great-aunt and friend.

Wife of the late Ernie Walters, Iva is survived by her son David (Jane) Walters, her daughter Dee Walters, her grandchildren: Don Garcia, David Walters, Rob Garcia, Kelli (Joe) Shipe, Tammi (Ray) Sowinski and Eric (Cynthia) Walters; and her six great-grandchildren: Joey & Jordyn Shipe, Jenna & James Sowinski and Kaylie & Cassidy Walters. One of 13 siblings, Iva is survived by her sisters Norine Britton and Valerie Kindeleit and her brothers Terry and Robin Keen.
Iva retired from United Airlines in 1987, was a devoted patron of First Presbyterian Church in Itasca, enjoyed bingo at the Bloomingdale Senior Center and cherished time with her family and friends.
Known for a generous spirit, an incredible memory for stories of her childhood, an unwavering will and strength of character, for her crocheted blankets, enduring English accent, her popovers and apple pie, Iva was adored by all who knew her and will be missed by all who loved her.
Visitation will be held from 3:00pm until time of service 7:30pm on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 333 South Roselle Road (½ mile South of Irving Park Rd.), Roselle.
