Israel Matias Vásquez, 73, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, surrounded by love. He was born on October 29, 1952.

Israel was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, he carried with him a deep sense of discipline, strength, and resilience that shaped both his life and the lives of those around him.

Israel dedicated his life to the field of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), where he became highly respected for his expertise and leadership. As a Level 3 NDT consultant and the owner of Vastek Consulting, he built a career spanning decades, working across aerospace and engineering industries. His work included roles as an NDT Engineer with Lockheed Missiles and Space Company and as a General Manager and Quality Manager at Magnetic Inspection Laboratory, Incorporated. He also served as an AQS/NDT Auditor with The Performance Review for over 30 years.

Throughout his career, Israel earned numerous certifications, including NDTQ Level 3 through Pratt & Whitney and Level 3 certifications with Rolls-Royce. In recognition of his decades of dedication and leadership, he was honored with the Nadcap Legacy Leader Award in October 2025, a distinction celebrating his lasting impact and contributions to the auditing community. He was known not only for his technical knowledge, but for mentoring others, setting high standards, and leaving a lasting impact on the field he loved so deeply.

Outside of his professional life, Israel had a deep appreciation for music and life’s simple pleasures. He was a true music enthusiast, with a special love for jazz, often enjoying it through his reel-to-reel and record collection. He appreciated a good martini, a fine cigar, and was a devoted fan of science fiction, especially Star Trek.

He is survived by his loving wife, Melinda; his children, Christina and Anthony; and his two beautiful granddaughters, Brielle and Avienne, who brought him endless pride and happiness. He also leaves behind many cherished relatives, colleagues, and friends who will forever hold his memory close.
