Ilona "Loni" Witz

Ilona “Loni” M. Witz, 72, of Elgin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2025, surrounded by her family. Loni was born December 16, 1952, in Chicago. Beloved daughter of the late Ernest and Lorraine Yuhasz; loving sister of Cheryl (Juan) Mercado; cherished aunt of Matthew and Lauren Mercado and longtime partner and friend of the late Brent Stines. In her own words, she'd lived a great life - from barrel racing horses to singing in the local band Bittersweet to owning a small farm where she could enjoy her animals. Most of all she enjoyed having fun with her family, making many fond memories with silly jokes, game nights and laughing until we cried. Her loving spirit and brilliant smile was contagious; she will truly be missed. Cremation will be private at the Countryside Crematory.
