Herb Schmidt

Herb Schmidt, 82, of Roselle, formerly of Broadview, died April 28, 2026. Herb was the beloved husband of Mary Schmidt (nee Kane) for 60 years; loving father of Kathy (Bill) Knowski and Karin (John) Goins; proud grandfather of Matthew and Megan Knowski; dear brother of Roland (the late LaVerne), Fritz (Adela) Brunner and Rose (Peter) Pischak; loving brother in law of Pat (the late Don) Ade. He will be missed by many loving nieces and nephews.

Herb loved to go skiing, gardening, being physically active, and playing tennis. He was a longtime member of the Hillside-Broadview American Legion Post 626. Most important of all was time with his family.

Visitation Monday May 4, 4:00pm - 8:00pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 333 S. Roselle Road, (1/2 mile South of Irving Park Road) Roselle. Funeral Tuesday, 9:30am to St. Walter Church Mass 10:00am. Following services cremation will be private at Countryside Crematory. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Jude Children's research hospital www.stjude.org would be appreciated.
