Helen A. Farraher, 76, of Schaumburg, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates Illinois.
Born July 1, 1940 in Peoria Illinois to Walter and Louise (Wand) Peters, she married Michael P. Farraher in October 1959, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Peoria. Helen was a graduate St. Bernard’s grade school and the Academy of Our Lady High School class of 1958. She enjoyed hosting holiday parties, boating and celebrating life with good friends and family.
Helen was the beloved mother of Michael D. Farraher of Greenwood, MN, Patrick (and Vikki) Farraher of Hudson, IL, Sheila Farraher of Peoria, and Karen Farraher of Roselle, IL. She was the proud grandmother of Lauren (and Luke) Christopher of San Jose, IL, Leah Farraher of Hudson, IL, and Kelly Farraher of Carey, SC; dear sister of Mary Stenger of Overland Park, KS, and sister-in-law of Frances Farraher of Peoria, and loving aunt to seven nieces and two nephews.
Helen was a former member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Schaumburg, the Golden Circle women’s group, and the Bay Shore Yacht Club.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Michael in 2003, and her parents.
A funeral mass / celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Peoria Heights, IL with visitation at 10:00 a.m., mass at 11:00 a.m., and luncheon immediately following. A private interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
Contributions will go toward a memorial at Friendship Village in Schaumburg where Helen was a resident for the past several years.
