Heinrich Gavenia

Heinrich Gavenia 83, of Bartlett, Illinois passed away on February 9, 2020 peacefully with his family at home. He was born on October 23, 1936 in Ziuriai , Lithuania to Jonas & Auguste (née Dirvelis). He immigrated to Chicago in 1956 & worked hard as a union painter to help bring the rest of his family to America. He loved the sport of Soccer, not only playing but coaching as well. He dedicated a lot of his time to the Liths soccer club and the Fichte - Rams soccer club. He also was an avid gardener.
He is survived by his loving wife Joyce (née Busch) of 58 years. They met at Zum Deutschen Eck restaurant in Chicago dancing the night away, at the time Heinrich spoke very little English so there was a bit of a language barrier between them but that did not stop them from getting married and starting a family. The last word he spoke was “JOYCE!”.
He is also the loving Father of Linda (Mike) Schmeda , Monica (David) Furgat & the late Brian. Dearest Opa of Anthony, Ariel, Jakob, Tyler & Chase. Cherished Great Opa of Lilly & Evelynn.
Visitation Sunday February 16, 2020 from 2:00pm until time of service 7:00pm at The Countryside Funeral Homes and Crematory 950 South Bartlett Rd., Bartlett. Following services, cremation will be private at The Countryside Crematory. Info (630)289-7575
