Heather J. Bongean

Heather J. Bongean, age 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 27th, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Heather was born on Sunday, January 10th, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Heather was a devoted spouse to her husband, Wayne Bongean, with whom she shared 64 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they raised a wonderful family and created a home filled with love and laughter.

Heather is deeply mourned by her daughters, Meredith Soelberg (husband Lane) and Allison Olsen (husband Kraig), and her adored grandchildren: Dominque (husband Jimmy), Jacquelin, Logan, Griffin, Kory, and Skylar. Her siblings, Candy, Jim, Holly, and Wendy, will also cherish her memory.

Heather was predeceased by her parents, Jim Trueman and Wilma Trueman, her sister Laurel, and her beloved son, Mark Bongean.

Heather dedicated 40 years of her career as an Executive Secretary at Navistar International, where she was admired for her professionalism, dedication, and warm spirit.

Outside of her work, Heather found immense joy in her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She also had a passion for the holidays, with Christmas holding a special place in her heart, bringing the family together and creating cherished memories.

Friends and family are invited to honor Heather's life at a visitation to be held on Monday, May 4th, 2026, from 10:00 am until time of service 12:00 pm at Countryside Funeral Home, 950 S. Bartlett Rd. Bartlett, IL. Interment Assumption Cemetery, Wheaton, IL.

Heather's kindness, love, and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
