It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gloria E. Brandl, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and longtime resident of Elgin, IL. Gloria passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the age of 93.
Gloria was born on March 8, 1933, in Chicago, and lived a life full of love, laughter, and devotion to her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry; her parents, Edward and Catherine Shamroski; and her daughter-in-law, Paula.
She was the cherished mother of Edwin, Glenn, Jeffrey (Kim), David (Irma), Rocky, and Paul (Christine). Her memory will be lovingly preserved by her grandchildren: Mark, Tim, Kelley, Carly, Scott, Audrey, Ginny, Jack, Shawna, Alexandra, Russell, Maggie, Nick, Samuel, Angela, Steven, Alec, and Addison, as well as her great-grandchildren, Kaya, Liam, Macy, Joss, Tim, Alexis, Benjamin, Elliot, Caroline, and Oliver.
Gloria was a dedicated receptionist for many years, known for her keen eye for fashion and her impeccable style. Her love for gambling, cards, and old movies was only matched by her devotion to Chicago sports, especially the Chicago Blackhawks. She found joy in living life to the fullest, always dressing well and celebrating the little moments.
A visitation will be held at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory of Streamwood, Streamwood, IL, on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 9:00 am until time of service 11:00am. Following the celebration, Gloria will be laid to rest at St Michael the Archangel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Palatine, IL.
Gloria’s legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to guide her family and friends.
