Gerald Werba

Gerald William Werba, 86, died January 24, 2024. Gerald was the beloved husband of Ruth Werba (nee Olsen); loving father of Mark (Rosemary)Werba, Elizabeth (Orlando) Olmo and Michael (Kimberly) Werba; proud grandfather of Joseph (Jessica), Nicholas (Rebecca), Jonathan (Caity) Olmo, Kevin (Colleen), Scott (Emily), Zachary (Dacey), and Cameron (Megan) Werba; dear great grandfather of Lily Olmo and Blake Werba; fond uncle of Debbie Kurtz, Linda (Dave) Kurz, Bobby (Robin) Fries and Danny (Trish) Fries; cherished son of the late William and Elizabeth Werba; loving brother of the late Norlene Fries.

He was a proud Marine veteran and had worked with People's Gas for 32 years. Gerald proudly watched all his grandsons play sports. He played softball at Dee Park in Des Plaines and bowled on Friday Nights at Thunderbird in Mt. Prospect. Gerald loved playing cards and going to Las Vegas. He lived a full happy life by: "We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time."

Visitation Tuesday, January 30, 3:00pm - 8:00pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 1640 S. Greenmeadows Blvd (at Barrington Road) Streamwood/Schaumburg. Funeral Wednesday 9:45am to St. John the Evangelist Church Mass 10:30am. Following services cremation will be private at Countryside Crematory.
