Gerald T. Szymczak, 78, of Schaumburg, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2024 with his family at his side. Gerald was an active member of The German Shepherd Club of America where he served as Vice President. He was an active sports enthusiast whom enjoyed golfing and was his grandkids' biggest cheerleader at their sporting events. Beloved husband of the late Patricia A. "Patty" (nee Meyer); loving father of Denise (Michael) Harrington, Dawna (Timothy) Smeltzer, and Bryan (Jaclyn); cherished grandfather of Emma, Ben, Audrey, and Ava Harrington, Devin and Jessica Smeltzer, and Kylie, Madisyn, and Brynlee Szymczak. Visitation Wednesday, June 19 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 333 S. Roselle Rd. (1/2 mile south of Irving Park Rd.), Roselle. Funeral Thursday 9:45am at the funeral home to St. Walter Church. Mass 10:30am. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park, IL.
