Gerald "Jerry" Bernacki, age 88, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 23, 2022.
 
 Jerry was born on May 22, 1933, in Chicago, to Ethel and Walter Bernacki.  He grew up in Chicago and graduated from Lane Technical High School.
 
 Jerry was a veteran in the armed services, Army, and served toward the end of the Korean War.  He attended the Industrial Engineering College of Chicago and graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering.  He married the love of his life, LaVerne Stark, January 31, 1959, and later moved to the suburbs of Chicago.  Jerry and LaVerne were married for 51 years and had two beautiful daughters, Kathleen (Steve) Baumann and Pamela (John) Glos.  They were blessed with grandchildren Brandy, Jonathon (Corina), Kimberly (Alan), Jamie (fiance Ricky), P.J. (Sammy), Justin and Rachel and great-grandchildren Angel, Frankie, Ashley, Brayden, Isabella, Josh, Gianna, Bella, Ava, Bentley and Bryson; he was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Ethel and his only brother Dennis.  He was also the brother in law of Marietta "Shorty" and uncle of Jeffrey (Mia).
 
 Jerry enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling (even bowling a perfect 300) and vacationing to warm places in the winter with his wife.  During retirement, Jerry and LaVerne spent the winters in Florida.  Jerry will be dearly missed.  Visitation Friday, January 28th, 3:00 pm - 9:00 pm at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 950 South Bartlett Rd. (at Stearns Rd.) Bartlett, Il.  Funeral Saturday, January 29th, service 10:00 am at the funeral home.  Interment Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery in Northlake.
