George S. Phillips, 81, of Bartlett, IL passed away peacefully with his beloved wife of 51 years at his side along with family on August 31, 2023. He was born on April 14, 1942 in Lefkada, Greece, to Spiro and Olga Philippas.
George graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago, majoring in art and secondary education with a Masters Degree in sculpture and art. He enjoyed painting and the arts, but mostly spending time with his family and grandchildren. George had a heart of gold and was always caring for and helping others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
George is the beloved husband of Anastasia for 51 years: loving father of Spiro and Kassia (Kosta) ; cherished grandfather to both Anastasias; kind brother to Eleni (Panagioti), Dimitra (Bysarion), Maria (Niko), Angelo, Lola (Donald), and Athanasia (Eugenio); fond uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Friends and loved ones are invited to attend the visitation at 9am, and church service at 10am, on Tuesday September 5th at Saint Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church, 133 S. Roselle Road, Palatine, IL. Procession to follow at Elmwood Cemetery and Mausoleum, 2905 Thatcher Ave, River Grove, IL. Flowers will be graciously accepted or donations to Saint Nectarios Church would also be appreciated.
