George Michalski, Born August 9, 1928 passed May 13, 2022. Beloved husband of Carol (nee: Fredricksen); loving father of Gary, Mark (Cathy); dear grandfather of Valerie; fond brother of Virginia (Sandy), Ed (Marge), Bob (Caroline) and Richard (Judy) and son of Robert and Nellie.
George attended Lake Tech High School and was drafted into the Army in 1950 where he served in the 24th Combat Infantry during the Korean War. During the war, he was severely wounded in battle and received the Purple Heart. After the war he married the girl next door and they would have celebrated their 68th anniversary on July 3rd. They moved to Hanover Park from Chicago in 1961 and George was involved in the start of the Hanover Park Baseball Association. He was a coach, umpire as well as league president. George was also a vital part of the start of VFW post 2451. His daily life was being a Iron Worker and a member for the Iron Workers Local 63. In retirement, George enjoyed volunteering at St. Alexius Hospital and pet sitting.
