Genevieve Ptak

Genevieve M. Ptak nee Bogdan, of Streamwood for 19 years formerly of Cicero. Born April 26, 1924 in Chicago, she passed into eternal life June 28, 2009 at her home in Streamwood.
She was the beloved wife of the late Felix Ptak; cherished daughter of the late Lucy and John Bogdan; loving mother of Mike (Cindy) Ptak and Camille Ptak; fond grandmother of Sarah (Kristoffer) Bird and Steve Ptak (finacee-Larissa Kent); dear sister of Felix (Pearl) Bogdan, Stephen bogdan, Louis (Lucille) Bogdan, Stella Bogdan, Edward (Connie) Bogdan, Marie (Frank) Szerlag, Florian (Regina) Bogdan, Aloysius (Charlotte) Bogdan and Joseph (Helen) Bogdan and many loving nieces and nephews.
Genevieve “Jean” Ptak was a longtime resident of Cicero, IL. She attended St. Mary of Czestochowa Grammar school and graduated from Morton East High School. She married the lover of her life, Felix, on September 26, 1942 and celebrated more than 50 years of marriage. Her family was always the focus of her life. She was the corresponding secretary of the Parish Mother’s Club throughout the fifties and sixties, her volunteering evidenced her incredible kindness and generosity. In more recent years she was an active parishioner at St. John the Evangelist Church, contributing generously to the Parish Baking Ministry and food Pantry, as well as heartfelt donations to the Elgin Crisis center. She was also an avid crafter; she made many whimsical stuffed animals, largely teddy bears, and attended craft shows where she was eagerly received. She always delighted in the company of her best friend, her daughter and association with friends, both old and new.
Jean will always be remembered as a woman of great faith, deep love and a true generosity of spirit.
Visitation Wednesday, July 1 from 3:00-9:00 PM at the Countryside Funeral home 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd (at Barrington Rd) Streamwood/Schaumburg. Funeral Thursday, July 2, 8:45 AM to St. John the Evangelist Church. Mass 9:30 AM. Interment Resurrection.
