Gary Sandberg

Gary E. Sandberg, of Elgin, father of Leeanna and Erik; brother of Karen (Robert) Durlak, Gene (Robin) and Glenn Sandberg; uncle of Jeffrey, Brian, Kristi, James and Richard; ex husband of Laurel A. Sandberg.


Gary was a humorous man, and will be remembered most as the guy who always had a joke to tell. His interests were varied. He enjoyed being in nature- fishing, hiking and camping- as well as mechanics. He could fix almost anything, and he did. He liked airplanes, and airshows, but he loved cars, and could fix anything on any car. He enjoyed cooking and perfecting his recipes, and especially enjoyed exploring ways to cook on the grill. His love of music lasted his entire lifetime, he always had a stack of music to play in the background. But to him, the quality of the sound was just as important as the music itself, and he always found just the right adjustment in his advanced stereo system to achieve the best quality sound. He even loved a good card game, especially poker, and his children credit their knowledge of all poker games to him. Gary will be missed, but always remembered


Visitation Tuesday May 16th, 4:00 pm- 8:00 pm at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 95 South Gilbert St. (at State St.) South Elgin,Il. Funeral Wednesday 12:00 pm / noon. Interment Lakewood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations to P.A.D.S , 1730 Berkley St, Elgin, IL 60123 would be appreciated.
