Fred (Fredrick) George Volmer, 88, of Bartlett, IL, passed away July 17, 2024, at his home.
He was born November 24, 1935, in Dundee, IL, he was the son of the late Henry and Maude Volmer.
Fred leaves behind his beloved family: his sons, Scott (Linda), Paul, Mark (Debbie), Chris (Mary), and Frtizie, his grandkids, Jessica (Preston), Matt (Narielle), Kyle (Jessalin), Travis (Sarah), Devin, Haley, and his great-grandkids, Tyler, Daemyn, Addison, Riley, Brantley, and Carter.
Fred married his wife, Sharon, July 13, 1957 where he worked for the Elgin Police Department during that time. He moved on to Flexonics where he made parts for Apollo missions, and the bulk of his career was spent at Raymond Control Systems. He ended his working career at F & C Industries in Montgomery.
Fred loved to spend time with his friends and family. He would take his family camping every weekend no matter what he had to sacrifice, spending time with his family meant the world to him. He loved his campfires whether it be cooking smores or making a meal like chili or smoky links. He loved being outdoors, woodworking, golfing, and happy hours.
He and his wife spent their 65
th
wedding anniversary in Twin Lakes, WI, with their sons, grandkids, and great grandkids in 2022.

A memorial service will be at Zion Lutheran Church 330 Griswold Street, Elgin, IL on Saturday, August 24
th
at 12:00 noon. A Celebration of Life will follow the service with a campfire and garbage can cookout at Chris and Mary’s house, just like Fred and Sharon would want.
Fred passed away four days after what would have been their 67
th
wedding anniversary. He got his wish, to be with the love of his life.
