Frank Merhaut

Frank T Merhaut, 61, passed peacefully at home after a day spent surrounded by his loving family. Frank was a loving husband, dedicated father, devoted grandfather, kindhearted brother, caring uncle, and loyal friend. Frank will be missed by every life he touched with his contagious humor and downright silliness. He was always ready with his big, infectious laugh that will be remembered by everyone who heard it.Frank loved the road: driving his semi, either long-hauling or local, riding his Harley with Monica on the back, and road trips in his pickup to Tennessee and Alabama. The road was his life. A perfect weekend for Frank included riding his Harley, camping in the Wisconsin Dells, boating on the Wisconsin River, and sitting around the campfire sharing stories and drinks. And if you added in a car show with his 1954 Pontiac Chieftain, he'd definitely say yes. Frank had a talent for fixing anything you put in front of him, whether it was his Pontiac or a broken toy. The saying went if Grandpa couldn't fix it, no one could. He loved tinkering and had every tool to repair anything that crossed his path. Frank always went out of his way to help the people he loved -- and that was a very long list. Frank passed after a four month bout with cancer. Safe travels until our roads meet again, Frank. We miss you. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, January 30th 2026, 3:00pm to 5:00pm at the Countryside Funeral Home, 95 S Gilbert St, South Elgin, IL. Cremation was private at the Countryside Crematory.
