Frances E. Wells, age 98, a resident of Carol Stream, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her
home on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.
Frances, daughter of Rose and Michael Dolnack, was born March 9,1924 in West Aliquippa,
Pennsylvania where she spent her childhood with her two brothers,Tom and Jim. From 1944 to
1946, she proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard where she met her husband, Fred. After
serving, they married and were blessed with five children, raising them first in Chicago, then in
both Broadview and Lombard, Illinois. Frances and Fred eventually retired together in Orlando,
Florida, but decided to move back to Illinois to be near their family.
Frances was employed for almost 15 years with Dominick’s Finer Foods in the western suburbs.
She loved to cook and bake; you never left a Sunday dinner empty handed or with an empty
stomach. Frances had a love of shopping for others, always finding the best deals and
clearance racks wherever she went. She enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and hearing the
clink-clink of the slot machines. Frances loved her morning coffee, reading the newspaper, and
attending Mass. Most importantly, her greatest joys were to be surrounded by her family, her
grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren.
Frances was the beloved wife of Fred, loving Mom of her five children: Michael Wells, Frederick
Wells Jr.,(Mary), Thomas Wells (Debbie), Laura Wells, and Judith Wells. She was the
sweet-natured and fiercely- loving Grandma to Christine Smith (Kim), Sarah Williams (Nick), T.J.
Wells, and Brad Wells (girlfriend Kylee). Her latest role, she was the ever-so-loved, “Gigi” to her
three great- grandchildren: Brady, Mila, and Giada. She was also a sister to Jim Dolnack
(Joann), and a loving cousin, godmother, aunt, and great aunt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Wells, Sr., her son, Frederick Wells, Jr.,her grandson, Thomas James (T.J.) Wells, Jr., and her brother Tom Dolnack (sister-in-law, Laura).
