Eugene Bender

Eugene Bender, 89, of Bartlett, IL passed away on February 2, 2023. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 950 S. Bartlett Rd. Bartlett, IL 60103. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 10:00 am at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow the service at Abraham Lincoln Nation Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.

Eugene is the beloved husband to Harriet; loving father to the late Elizabeth McCormack, Steven (Ann) Bender, and Andrew Bender; cherished grandpa to Nicholas Bender, Collin (Abby) McCormack, Valerie (Joshua) Reed, Caleigh Bender, Travis Bender and Lauryn Bender; caring brother to Julian Bender and Diane Lewner; dear uncle to many nieces and nephews. Eugene was very excited to become a great-grandpa in July.

Eugene loved being outside. He enjoyed gardening and growing vegetables. He volunteered in his retirement at Kline Creek Farm and tended to the Bee Hives. He was a proud Veteran of the Army. But what Eugene loved most, was his family. He truly loved spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. Anytime the family would get together, Eugene would grab the nearest baby and take them for walks around the house. He was loved by so many and will truly be missed. For information: 630-289-7575
