Ernest H. Thorner Jr (Ernie)
Born in Deep Water West Virginia on July 5, 1946. Ernie was the son of the late Ernest H. Thorner and Mary (Rhodes) Thorner, the brother of the late Gladys (Thorner) Saindon and Theresa (Thorner) Rich of Port St. Lucie, Fl. He was the husband of Carolyn (Ducey) Thorner for 54 years and was dad to Tracy Thorner Milner (husband Graham Milner) and Scott M. Thorner (wife Abigail Krohne Thorner). He was affectionately known as grampy to Michael and Matthew Milner and Cassidy and Daniel Thorner, his 4 grandchildren.
He served his country in the US Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He was a medal recipient for exemplary service. After being honorably discharged, he returned to his employment at American Airlines in Boston MA and then transferred to Chicago IL. He retired from the airline after 39 years.
On January 11, 2022, Ernie’s long struggle with COPD ended. Per Ernie’s request, no formal services will take place.
In our hearts he has not left us, he has just gone fishing.
