Ernest Ojeda, 93, of Streamwood, World War II veteran. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at his home. Ernest was born on March 18, 1925 to Alberto and Anna Ojeda.
Ernest is survived by his best friend, Carole Konetzki, his daughters, Carol Wesson and Lynnette (William) Mohill, his grandson, Noah (Jennifer) Wesson and great twin grandsons, Matthew and Peter, and his sisters, Irene Castillo and Esther Lugo and his buddies Casey Konetzki and Travis Dill. He was preceded in death by his son Michael, parents, brothers, Paul, Albert, Joseph and sisters, Cecilia and Connie and his granddaughter, Yvette Mohill.
Ernest loved golfing, bowling, horse racing and pinochle. His was an avid White Sox fan until his best friend pointed out his error in thinking and thereafter rooted for the Cubs. The highlight of his later years was his Honor Flight to Washington DC.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Visitation Sunday, August 19, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd., Streamwood. Prayers Monday, August 20, 2018 9:15 am to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Streamwood for Mass at 10:00 a.m. Following Mass Burial will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1400 South Wolf Rd. Hillside, Ill. at 2:30 p.m. (meet at the cemetery office)
