Dr. Ernest González Dávila, the son of Luz Delia Dávila and Grandson of Delia Hernández passed away peacefully alongside his family on July 13 2025, in Elgin, Il. Ernest was born in Brooklyn New York on February 26 th , 1954. It was in New York where he discovered his love of percussion instruments. Affectionally known as Tito Timbal, Ernest became a prolific percussionist in his hometown of Juncos, Puerto Rico. Ernest played the timbales and batá alongside salsa acts like Tito Rojas, Orlando Pabellón, Pedro Conga, Nelson Pinueve, Eufrasio Cucho, Arquímedes Virella, Papo Sylvestre, Hugo Dumont, German Cárdenas, Nelson Alvarado, Rico Walker, Nene Bongo, and Jaime Marcano.
His passion for music was only matched by his passion for education. Ernest worked in education for over 30. He initiated his career as an intermediate teacher. He also worked as the Principal of Channing elementary and as a professor at Northern Illinois University and Chicago State University.
He is survived by his wife Emma González, daughters Luziette González and Ámbar González, son Onyx González, and granddaughter Elena Matos González. He will be eternally missed.

Ernest nació en Brooklyn, Nueva York, el 26 de febrero de 1954. Fue en Nueva York donde descubrió su amor por los instrumentos de percusión. Conocido cariñosamente como Tito Timbal, Ernest se convirtió en un prolífico percusionista en su ciudad natal de Juncos, Puerto Rico. Ernest tocó los timbales y el batá junto a artistas de salsa como Tito Rojas, Orlando Pabellón, Pedro Conga, Nelson Pinueve, Eufrasio Cucho, Arquímedes Virella, Papo Sylvestre, Hugo Dumont, Germán Cárdenas, Nelson Alvarado, Rico Walker, Nene Bongo y Jaime Marcano.
Tanto la música como la educación fueron su pasión. Ernest trabajó en el ámbito educativo durante más de 30 años. Comenzó su carrera como profesor de nivel intermedio en su pueblo natal y en Chicago. También trabajó como director de la escuela primaria Channing y como profesor en la Universidad Northern Illinois y en la Universidad Chicago State.
Le sobreviven su esposa Emma González, sus hijas Luziette González y Ámbar González, su hijo Onyx González y su nieta Elena Matos González. Lo extrañaremos eternamente.
