The family of Elmer Lee Wuensche will celebrate his life of 85 years at a private family service at Trinity Lutheran Church in Roselle, Illinois. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Alexian Brothers Hospice Residence, Elk Grove Village, Illinois on Tuesday, March 30, 2021. The service date and time will be announced.  On September 11, 1935, Elmer was born to Oscar and Hulda Moerbe Wuensche in Wilson, Texas. He married Iris Terry Wuensche on September 11, 1954 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wilson, Texas. Elmer started his first career as a farmer but soon decided to move his family to pursue what would be his passion to teach children and attended the former Concordia Teachers College (Concordia University Chicago) in River Forest, Illinois graduating with his B.S. in Lutheran Education in 1964.  He taught and was Principal in many different L.C.M.S. Lutheran schools over his 40+ year teaching career including schools in Maryland, Texas, Louisiana and Illinois. He had a love for learning and continued his education to receive his Master’s degrees in Education from Concordia University Chicago and Master’s in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Illinois as well as receiving the first Certificate of Advanced Studies in 1979 from Concordia University Chicago. After retiring from teaching in 1999, he worked for Motorola, Inc. in Arlington Heights as a Webmaster for several years then retired again. However, when asked to use his talent and knowledge as a school developer, he and Iris went to work to revive a Lutheran school in New Orleans, Louisiana. After retiring for the 2nd time, he became the interim Principal of Trinity Lutheran School in Roselle, Illinois. Although finally retired, he continued to be involved with Lutheran education and was a long-time church and school volunteer.
 
 Elmer is the beloved husband of 66 years of Iris nee Terry; loving father of Pamelia (William) Nordbrock and Linda (Tom) Saflarski; cherished grandfather of Paul (Sandy) Nordbrock, Jacob Nordbrock, Matthew Lee and Kate Prestemon; uncle of many nieces and nephews. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents and was the dear brother of the late Herman, Wilbert and Arthur Wuensche.
 
 In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Trinity Lutheran School, 405 South Rush Street, Roselle, Illinois 60172 or Alexian Brothers Hospice Residence, 901 Martha Street, Elk Grove Village, Illinois 60007 to whom the family is thankful for their support and care.
