She then moved to Chicago to begin her career in Nursing. Elaine later moved on to Blue Cross and Blue Shield where she worked for nearly 40 years, working her way up through the ranks into positions that had never been held by a woman back in those days. Gathering respect and friendships along the way but always with the priority of taking care of her children, she had the strength of 10 men and yet always had a hand out in friendship and kindness to all she met. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. She loved anything flower related, but most especially her African Violets. She was a devoted Grandmother and always attended their sporting, musical or theatrical events.
In her retirement she was luckily able to do what she loved most travel and go to the theatre and eat out with cherished friends and family. She loved to play bingo and cards with friends and watch the Chicago Bulls play Basketball, she tried to never miss a game.
She will be missed by all that knew her, because all that did, loved her very much.
In lieu of flowers, donations to one of Mom's favorite charities, The Lincoln Park Zoo, PETA or The Red Cross, or a charity of your choice appreciated.
