Edward George Leis (Edie)

August 21, 1944 - February 15, 2025

Ed passed away peacefully but unexpectedly and went home to be with the Lord on February 15, 2025. He was 80 years old.

Ed was a loving father to Sandra Muhling ( Dan ), Sherry Juda ( Wayne ), Carina Griffin ( Kyle. Grandfather to Sabrina, Kayla, Alec and Danielle and great-grandfather to Jack and Cordelia. Dear brother to 8 siblings and a friend to anyone who know him.

Ed grew up in Chicago and moved out to the suburbs as a teen. After high school Ed went into the army reserves. He married young and settled down in Lake Zurich. His experience in the army reserves paved the way for a career in law enforcement. He spent 30 years on the Lake Zurich police dept. and was a loved fixture in this little town. He knew everyone and always tried to help whenever he could. He was famous for giving second chances and being kind in his position of authority. He was also known as “ fast Eddie” as he loved jogging all the way around the lake ( 3 miles ) saying hello but not stopping to chat. He loved the outdoors especially bike rides, and grilling in the summer. As kids he’d take us for moonlit walks around our neighborhood block. Ed was always very busy. He was raising 3 girls and imparted his wisdom along the way. We learned how to work hard, cook and throw Chinese stars. ( a skill he learned from his martial arts training ) just to name a few. Ed had a love of learning and always continued growing in knowledge and keeping up with current events.

He was stubborn to a fault but was full of love especially for his family. One of his great joys were our family get togethers. Just being with his kids and grandkids was his favorite thing to do. He loved us all fiercely and would do anything for anyone of us. His kindness and non-judgmental attitude is something to aspire to. His loving heart and positivity was inspirational and will never be forgotten.

He will live on forever in our hearts.

John 14:1-3

Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so , would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you so that you will always be with me where I am.
