Edna Mae Smith (nee Orr), 83, of Elgin, died Saturday, September 21, 2013 at her home. Born May 21, 1930 in Aurora, IL. Edna was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Hartzell Smith, she was the daughter of the late Waite and Anna (nee Hodgett) Orr.
Edna loved music, singing and a good parade, she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, jumble, and playing BINGO. Most of all Edna enjoyed spending time with her family and caring for other children.
Survivors include children Beverly (William), Gail, Susan (James), Debra (Joseph), Violet (Florenciano), Penny (Billy), and Naomi (Paul); 19 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, sisters Beverly and Marjorie. She was preceded in death by her daughter Denise, great grandchild Nicholas, siblings Douglas, Gladys, Dessa, James, Richard, Edyth, Jean, Westley, Helen, Marion, and her parents.
Visitation Monday, September 23, 3:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 95 S. Gilbert Street (at Middle Road), South Elgin. Funeral Tuesday 11:00a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
