Dorothy Nagle

January 19, 1943 — May 8, 2020

Dorothy A. Nagle, born Dorothy Styborski, passed away at her home Friday, May 8th, 2020. She was 77 years old.

Dorothy came into this world amidst a snowstorm on a cold January day in 1943. She was born at home in Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania. In her younger years, Dorothy developed a fondness for the outdoors, something she would carry with her throughout her life. Whether it was gardening at home or strolling through the woods on a birding adventure, Dorothy always appreciated her time in nature. This appreciation fell hand-in-hand with her love of animals.

From the time she was old enough to ride, Dorothy shared a strong bond with horses. Throughout her life, she owned, trained, and showed several different horses, as well as judged at numerous equine competitions. This love of horses carried with her until the day she died.

On a blissful autumn’s eve in 1961, Dorothy married William Joseph Nagle. Their love would span the course of nearly six decades, inspiring all generations to come what it is to truly find a soul mate. The love they shared lives on through William, in his heart and memories.

Dorothy held several jobs throughout her life, from Administrative Assistant to Office Manager, but all of them paled in comparison to her role as a mother. Dorothy and William had one son, Chris, and three daughters: Robin, Stephannie and Michelle. Because of her kind heart and nurturing nature, Dorothy was known as a “mother to many,” always caring for the needs of others before herself. The lessons she taught live on through her children and grandchildren.

Dorothy joins her daughter, Stephannie Schumacher, and her parents John and Dorothy Styborski in heaven. She is survived by her husband William Nagle, her sisters Patty Zielinski and Betty (Jack) Osterberg, her brother Johnny (Deanna) Styborski, her children Chris (Peg) Balogh, Robin Nagle, Michelle (Wayne) Massad and her son-in-law Tim Schumacher. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren: Aryn (Samuel) Smith, Ashley Balogh, TJ (Heather) Schumacher, Nicki Schumacher, Shannon (Justin) Cervantes, William Sutphin, Patrick Sutphin, Derek Massad and Justin Massad, as well as six great-grandchildren; Levi, Jude, Mia, Maverick, Piper, and Chase.

Dorothy lived a life filled with love. She will be missed, but more than that her memory will be cherished. The stories told about her are ones of laughter and joy. She spoke her mind and taught her children to do the same. She instilled a love of nature that lives on through her great-grandchildren. She created a not-so-secret raspberry hooch recipe that fixes both the common cold and an uneventful evening. Most importantly, she cared deeply for everyone she leaves behind.

Those wishing to honor Dorothy are asked to make a donation to the Crohn’s Foundation. A celebration of her life will occur later in the summer on a date that has yet to be determined.
